Sound Garden Now Open at the Labyrinth

Come and enjoy !!!!

You have traveled too fast over false ground;
Now your soul has come to take you back.

Take refuge in your senses, open up
To all the small miracles you rushed through.

Australia Day Holiday Mon 28 Jan Soundscapes at the Labyrinth

Celebrate Australia!!

Monday 28 Jan 2:30 pm

Join us on the Australia Day Holiday to celebrate our lives in Australia in sound.  We will meet at 2:30 pm at the Art Centre Labyrinth for an hour or so playing and having fun creating soundscapes filled with laughter, talk, and song.  Everyone welcome, including children of all ages!!

More about our Soundscapes Project

Who:  Everyone of all ages who wants to include more joy and fun in their lives

What: Exploring the magic of creating and exploring sounds together, and relearning the joys of playing, and having fun.

Where: Lucky's Labyrinth behind the Bribie Community Arts Centre Sunderland Drive Banksia Beach

When: Every Tuesday morning at 7 am following a walk through the labyrinth and a silent meditation, and on special occasions and workshops.  We are also developing a sound installation at the labyrinth that will be accessible 24/7.

Why: Sound and resonance are well known for their power to bring joy, to heal, and to connect with each other and with the environment.  People enjoy a wide spectrum of sounds from classical music which is structured according to rules of rhythm, tone and harmony, through more flexible forms of jazz and improvisation to our soundscapes, which seek to enjoy sound and resonance without any rules of what is right or wrong.

How:  We are collecting a wide range of items which can make interesting, and often unexpected resonances and sounds, as well as experimenting with using our voices. (See photos above for part of our collection.)   Conventional tuned instruments are also welcome.

Hope you can join us,

Come Create Collaborative Soundscapes in the Labyrinth

Come Create Collaborative Soundscapes in the Labyrinth

Help the labyrinth grow and evolve by joining us on Tuesday mornings to play with our growing collection of objects that make a vast variety of interesting, exciting and intriguing sounds, and to experience the joy of exploring and and having fun together.  We start with a walk through the labyrinth followed by a period of silence and meditation at 7 am - followed by an hour or two creating soundscapes in this beautiful area.  If 7 am is too early for you - just join us when you can get there.  And if Tuesday mornings don't work for you, we hope to offer sound workshops at other times during the year - watch this space!!!

For more information, please contact Joyce (0439 329 334) or Larysa (0438378294)

Hope you can join us in our exploration of the role of playing and having fun in our 'adult' lives,

Joyce

A special postscript
The labyrinth is becoming home for many different characters that greet our visitors. We welcome any additions if you have any small weatherproof toys that would be at home there.

We are delighted to have been donated a much-loved Christmas creche scene, which is now safely put away until the next festive season.

Summer solstice meditation 2018

Summer Solstice Meditation 2018

Please join with us to celebrate the summer solstice - the longest day of the year in Australia, and the first of the harvest festivals - and to express gratitude for the gifts and challenges of 2018.

We will be meeting at the Arts Centre Labyrinth at 2 pm Saturday 22 December for a walk through the labyrinth followed by a 15 minute silent meditation, and finishing with a short piece of 'unstructured music'.  The labyrinth has continued to develop during the year - this is a good chance to come and enjoy it - and of course the area is always open to visitors.

We have been using the labyrinth as a beautiful space to play with and explore the joys, challenges, and benefits of making free unstructured music together, and hope to run a series of workshops on this next year.  More information in the new year.

Thank you for continuing to support the labyrinth, if only by remaining on this email list.

Hope to see you next Saturday,
